A police inspector attached to ‘A’ Division Police Station Asaba, Delta State has landed in trouble for allegedly stealing computer printer reportedly recovered from robbery suspects.

It was gathered that trouble started for the police inspector when the principal of Illah Mixed Grammar School, Illah in Oshimili Local Government Area of the state, petitioned the police commissioner over the alleged theft.

The petition dated October 12, 2015, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent, stated that the police inspector allegedly stole the computer printer recovered from robbery suspects.

The petitioner, Mrs. Esther Ilobi, stated that during the first quarter of 2014 a burglary at a house in Illah Community where the property of Illah Mixed Grammar School were kept for security reasons was reported at the police station.

The items said to have been removed by the thieves included a desktop computer, flat screen monitor, Keyboard, computer printer and a generator.

All of these items where recovered through the help of an investigating officer, Ms. Ndidi Ejeh, who was later transferred to Lagos.

The petitioner added that after the investigation was concluded, those accused of the crime were arraigned, convicted and sentenced.

The petitioner, however, said that among the items that were taken to court, the printer was missing, and the inspector claimed he did not know where it was, alleging that it might have been taken away by the former IPO in the case before judgment was given.

The police commissioner in the state, Mr. Alkali Usman, said the petition “is already receiving attention, the police will ensure a thorough investigation in the petition.”
