Oshiomhole Vows To Ensure Sylva's Victory
on: November 10, 2015, 06:03:43 PM

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has explained how hard he will work to ensure the victory of Chief Timipre Sylva in the December 5 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa state.

The governor’s speech while presiding over a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council for the Bayelsa state governorship election at the Sokoto Governor’s lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, Tuesday, put to rest speculations that he opted out as the chairman of the campaign council.

The speculations had arisen following his altercation with Sylva over the governorship primary in Bayelsa and the purported rejection was hailed by the Ijaw Elders Forum (IEF), a group supporting the Bayelsa state governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Seriake Dickson.

According to The Nation, Oshiomhole has now made a u-turn and has confirmed that he never turned down the offer, while insisting that the Bayelsa poll was very significant to the APC and explained why he could not attend the council’s inauguration and its inaugural meeting.

“I would have been here for the inauguration as well as the first meeting of the campaign council but for communication challenges, I did not get the information on time.

“But the truth is that every party man has a duty to project the APC, the governorship candidate and our manifestoes to the people of Bayelsa State as we go in for the election.
“This election is very crucial to us and all legitimate means allowed within the ambit of the law will be explored to ensure that we win. It is very significant to us as a party,” Oshiomhole explained.

The Edo governor was recently described as a drowning man by an ex-governor of the state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion for ordering a probe into his (Igbinedion’s) alleged money
laundering during his tenure as the head of the state.
