A former senator who represented Ondo Central Senatorial District and close associate of Mimiko, Mr. Ayo Akinyelure, and the Director, Technical Aids Corps and former Mimiko’s commissioner, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi, defected to the opposition party in December, 2015.

Oke stated this while speaking with journalists after a meeting with members of the APC in his house at Ijapo Estate, Akure, the state capital.

The former PDP National Legal Adviser, who defected to the APC few days after the March, 28, 2015 presidential election, said the intending defectors were tired of the PDP and therefore opted to “join the wind of change that is blowing across the country.”

He said, “The wind of change is blowing across the country, and it is blowing in Ondo State now, recently a senator and bigwig has come to join the APC, many other leaders of the PDP in the state have indicated interest to be part of the change. So they are ready to join us”

On the forthcoming election in the state, Oke said the APC would certainly take over the state, noting that the people of the state were preparing to accept the APC government in other to join the ‘change train’.

“When a wind of change is blowing, nobody stands against it. If there is any part of Nigeria where change is needed, it is Ondo State. I believe very strongly that people are waking up to claim their right. The APC is the party of the people, it is not owned by any individual.

“I can assure you that we in the APC are more than prepared to bring about change in Ondo State. The people desire change because by now everybody is tired of directionless and visionless leadership in Ondo State.

“The salaries of workers are not being paid. That means everyone is affected in one way or the other. Our people in Ondo State cannot continue to keep companion in the midst of plenty. Therefore we are more than well prepared to take over this state.”
