We are ecstatic about the artist lineup for this year's Governor's Ball Festival in New York. With over sixty world-renowned musicians filling three stages at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the largest party in New York City is back to celebrate the start of summer in style!

The festival is scheduled for June 7–9, 2024, and will take place over three days. Visitors can choose to purchase a day pass, a two-day pass, or a three-day pass. However, these are the top 10 hip-hop and R&B acts we can't wait to see live (in no particular order) before you purchase your tickets here to see your favorite artists live.

1. 21 Savage

21 Savage is a name that should come as no surprise to fans of new school hip hop. But if you love rap and you've never heard of the musician, attending the Governor's Ball will undoubtedly make you ad-lib the term "twenty one" on the way home.

The rapper, who was raised in the US but was born in Britain, is renowned for his suave criminal character and relaxed delivery when performing live. Through deft conversation and bar-to-bar collaboration on a joint effort, Her Loss, with rappers like Drake, Savage skillfully converted indifferent listeners into devoted followers. With the most recent release of American Dream, Savage cemented his status in the rap world once again. Alongside musicians like Travis Scott, Doja Cat, Lil Durk, Burna Boy, and others, Savage showcased his charisma over trap-heavy sounds.

Atlanta is represented by 21 Savage in both sound and spirit. In addition to contributing to the South's hip-hop legacy, Savage is well-known for his support of the neighborhood and frequently organizes events like the "Issa Back 2 School Drive" and "Bank Account at Home." By means of community interventions such as these, the rap icon provides young people with resources for long-term educational endeavors, personal money management during difficult times, and financial literacy skills.

2. SZA

SZA, a Grammy-nominated R&B musician who is determined to smash record after record, is one of the best performers on the TDE roster. Most recently, she made history as the first black female musician to have an album (SOS) stay in the Billboard Hot 200 for more than a full year. Her effort, which was only her second full-length album, won over both the public and critics, securing her nine Grammy nominations and elevating her to the rank of a renowned singer-songwriter.

Given her music and voice, which are both like a soul symphony—evocative and provocative at the same time—this is obviously far from surprising.

Having collaborated with musicians such as Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, Doja Cat, and Nicki Minaj, SZA's compositional and writing diversity is still largely unmatched.

Her music has the power to move even the most jaded listener. It often tackles issues of femininity, body positivity, and self acceptance. What sets SZA apart from the rest is her ability to capture a broad audience by carefully and pointedly rearranging her personal experience and story. You shouldn't miss this performer at the Governor's Ball festival in New York City because she will create an experience that only she can create that will make you cry, weep, and wonder.

3. Post Malone

Post Malone AKA White Iverson AKA Posty, is a man of many names and talents. One of the finest voices in the current era of music, Post Malone combines the soul of hip-hop with the shimmer of pop-rock persona. The result? Massive appeal from core fans across genres, worldwide.

While the pop-star’s debut 2016 project Stoney came out with heavy trap/ hip hop based influences (especially on the drums), his latest AUSTIN marks a significant departure from that influence. The newer music is more raw, unafraid in its minimalistic, atmospheric quality with a bend of live drums and emotional openness. An introvert’s superstar, Post Malone has come a long way in embracing his authentic voice – raw, often raspy, but never devoid of dynamic and tonal dexterity.

Tatted up pretty much head to toe wearing his stories on skin, Post Malone inspires pop musicians to dream differently within the space of pop-music, and to embrace their individuality of expression. He showcases an exciting mastery over the act of finding sonic parts that stick equally well like an earworm throughout different arrangements and songs. Makes sense why his music sound tracked the visuals of a rather sticky superhero – you Spiderman fans do not want to miss this performance.

4. Dominic Fike

We’re not doing right by our readers if we are mentioning a curious amalgamation of pop-rock, indie and hip hop, and not including Dominic Fike in the conversation. Well, lucky for you, we totally are.

Surviving a rather rough childhood and much of adult life marred with substance abuse, volatility and even imprisonment, Fike pushed past adversity with his voice to gain global recognition for his art. While some of you may know Fike for his compelling acting performance in the show Euphoria, Fike is a musical mastermind who intoxicates listeners with sounds of an inner rebellion and reconciliation.

A true boundary pusher, blurring lines between creativity and commercial palatability, Fike slides in and out of multiple fan bases with his double-tracked, velvety voice over rhythm guitars and a confluence of cross-genre influences. Often harmonizing over up-beat music, Fike just as easily gets deeper into his feelings without much caution. If you’re a fan of vulnerable artists authentic to their purpose, Dominic Fike is an act worth not missing out on.

5. Teezo Touchdown

A punk rocker at heart in the body of a talented rapper, Teezo Touchdown (known previously as AyeTee and Teezo Suave) is an artist that has come a long way from his days of rapping on corners and sidewalks. A fresh artist blending unpredictable flows with elements from RnB, punk and hip-hop, Teezo became an undisputed collaborator of choice for artists like Travis Scott, Tyler the Creator and Doja Cat – who seem to enjoy sonic experimentation just as much as him.

Shooting to uncontested fame status post his 2019 release, ‘100 Drums’ (remixing Panic! At The Disco’s ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’) where he tackled the tough subject of armed violence in his surroundings, the rapper-producer linked with Trippie Redd and kick started a career marked with alternative fashion and musical choices in hip-hop. After all, when was the last time you saw a rapper wearing a spike-collar and bands, nails sticking out the shoes and chains around the torso? Safe to say, Teezo has vastly redefined the conventions and norms of a hip-hop based artist, from audio all the way to the visuals.

But even if you’re not a fan of hip-hop in particular, and rather enjoy bands like Green Day, Linkin Park, or 21 Pilots, this could be an act you wouldn’t want to miss either. His 2024 album How Do You Sleep At Night? With You is especially reminiscent of the aforementioned era of music and explores the complexity of love and sex with the sensitivity and rage of rock and roll.

6. D4VD

D4VD is one of those rare contemporary RnB prodigies who made a career in music producing off his mobile phone. Yes, you read that correctly – in fact, his most famous track ‘Romantic Homicide’, which went on to cross a billion streams on Spotify alone, was produced on a phone application called BandLab and recorded in his little sister’s closet. Craziest part? He almost didn’t even release it!

Coming out of Texas with hopes of low-key being a video-game player, D4VD found the perfect creative catalyst in reading manga and watching anime – an unlikely combination that helped him reimagine what it means to be a superhero. Going from public school to homeschooling as a teenager, D4VD confronted themes of loneliness, self-perception and companionship early on – which are all themes that can be instantly identified in the mood and words of his music.

With vocals often drenched in reverb and lyrics rooted in soul and RnB, DAVD’s music engulfs and drowns the listener in a vast multitude of feelings. A catalog that will take you over songs that make you want to headbang and slow-dance per their own whims and fancies, D4VD will be a fresh treat for live audiences at the event. If his appearance on The Cave with Kenny Beats is any indication, it is that D4VD is a complete performer, duly in tune with his impulses, spontaneity and creativity.

7. Saint Levant

Saint Levant AKA Lover Boy Levant, born to a French-Algerian mother and a Palestinian-Serbian father, is an artist who took social media by storm in recent times with his smooth RnB inspired raps and seductive lyrics. An instant fan favorite who can rap in three languages with equal eloquence and charm, Levant often writes music to make love to. That said, Levant’s music is as much political as it is personal, and oftentimes delves deeply into the Palestinian struggle for liberation.

Born in Gaza and forced to relocate after seven years to Jordan, then eventually California, Levant has been able to utilize the demand for his music to help support Palestinians by directing 100% of proceeds from merch sales to children in Gaza. Even his moniker as Saint Levant draws inspiration from the term ‘levant’, which historically denotes the areas of modern-day Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. Showing up for Levant’s music at the Governor’s Ball is sure to leave you feeling the entire spectrum of human emotion and condition.

8. Doechii

A rapper and singer-songwriter in equal regard, Doechii will have you stunned with catchy hooks, dance rhythms and mesmerising melodies. Having opened for Doja Cat on her Scarlet Tour, Doechii is well seasoned as a performer for large audiences and is sure to leave you jaws on the floor, gasping for breath.

Often firing off with stylistically animated vocal delivery and performance, Doechii broke into the music scene with a rather unconventional approach – with her early songs famously being under two minutes. The thematic nuance of her work ranges from talking about the struggles of functioning as an adult in childhood and parental trauma to being a figure representing young black women in an empowering light.

Best known for her hit single ‘What It Is’, Doechii has often been heard over memorable samples from hit records of the last decade in songs such as ‘A N X I E T Y’ and ‘Alter Ego’. Fans of Gotye and Ayesha Erotica are in for a pleasant surprise and sure to go dancing down the memory lane in a whirlwind of nostalgia that will make you want to groove.

9. Don Toliver

If the line-up so far doesn’t seem sensually charged enough already, this next artist is here to take care of you. Don Toliver, famous for his high octave vocal runs that bleed into intoxicating trap inspired beats, with lyrics serving as a tasteful tease, is nothing short of an enigma.

Incorporating the ‘Don’ in his name to represent his attitude of conquering different styles and donning different hats as a musician, Toliver first put out music at the age of sixteen. In the years since, Toliver has cemented his authentic voice in hip-hop collaborating with pioneers like Nas, and even penetrating Hollywood sync-deals in movies like Fast & Furious 9.

Further having worked with artists like Eminem, Travis Scott, Masego and Justin Bieber, the rapper has a chokehold on the hearts of many and promises to deliver an auto-tune soundscaped, almost psychedelic musical experience. If getting down and dirty to good trap is your thing, look no further!

10. Kevin Abstract

Yep, the smooth voice behind the Brockhampton experimentalism and frenzy – Kevin Abstract is ready to grace the stage at the Governor’s Ball. Suave style of delivery filled with harmonies juxtaposed with intricate instrumental arrangement, Abstract has made hip-hop and RnB more ‘abstract’ in the best possible sense of the word.

Kevin’s music is a masterclass in revisitation and revision of his early music, in the sense that he constantly looks back at the core coming together of Brockhampton, and pushes the envelope further with his individual being. With a propensity for being deliberately abnormal in his music, his music is best described as the unending soundtrack to the lives of the ‘different’ kid – the underdog.

Sonically, his music is reminiscent of the sounds of symphony over wonkiest of bass-lines and the tightest of vocal performances. The music arrangements meander across minimalism to the lushness of synths, guitar pedals and piano laden sounds to take the listener in a loving embrace. If you’re looking to be elated, embraced and empowered through a musical experience with the most versatile of vocalists, Kevin is a treat you would want to get in line for.

Over the past few weeks, Drake and Kendrick Lamar have engaged in a heated rap feud. An investigation is underway into Drake's expansive Toronto house in the wake of a shooting that happened late last night.

The gunshot happened outside Drake's residence shortly after two in the morning, according to CBC News and City News. Tuesday morning, Toronto Police posted a confirmation of the occurrence on Twitter. Early on Tuesday, police roped up the entrance to the residence on Park Lane Circle in the upscale Bridle Path neighborhood.

The adjacent corner of Bayview and Lawrence avenues was the general location that the police provided. Although they haven't provided any additional information on the case as of yet, police have stated that a suspect fled the scene in a car and that a man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. A security guard, not Drake, was the victim, according to CBC, which cited a police source.

They add that the first call indicated the victim was a home security guard who seems to have been shot in a drive-by incident. When police came, he was unconscious due to an upper chest gunshot wound. At the hospital, he had emergency surgery.

Over the past two weeks, Drake and Kendrick Lamar have engaged in a heated rap feud.

He said: “This is the economic hub of Ile-Ife. We have banks and all manners of businesses here. All the residents of neighbouring communities including Gbongan and many more towns do come to Lagere for trading. People do come from Modakeke to trade here.

His Royal Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi has showered praises on Governor Ademola Adeleke over his administration's holistic infrastructure agenda for the state, affirming that the Lagere flyover bridge flagged off today will deepen Osun East economy.

Receiving the State Governor, his team and leaders of Ifeland at his Palace and addressing the public at the Lagere Junction, the global monarch analyzed the economic significance of Lagere Junction linking all major economic arteries of Osun State from Gbongan-Ikire axis in Osun West to Garage Olode on the route to Ondo and the direct economic linkage to Ijeshaland.

His Royal Majesty, a toprank businessman before his ascension to the throne of Oduduwa, described the Lagere flyover bridge as the coming of an economic hub which will expand the economic prosperity of not just Ifeland but Osun East and Osun state as a whole.

“I must commend the foresight and thoughtfulness of Mr. Governor. Your agenda to expand state infrastructure is impressive and unrivaled. This Lagere flyover bridge and its location touch at the economic heart of our people. We deeply appreciate your vision of uplifting and transforming Ifeland , the cradle of Yoruba nation.

“ We are convinced that you will complete it in record time. We are also assured that you will put to practice your avowed commitment to local content and stomach infrastructure. When you finish the Lagere project, we know you will commence another one at Mayfair. At least, Ifeland is the origin of all Yoruba people '', the Royal Majesty who spoke in Yoruba language noted.

Flagging off the project at a ceremony attended by top leaders of the state including the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; the House Speaker , Adewale Egbedun; the Deputy Speaker, Hon,Ireyode Abidemi Oyewusi ; the State Chairman of the ruling party, Hon Sunday Bisi; the Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina; and Chairman of Imole Leadership team, Prof Wale Oladipo, Governor Adeleke said his infra agenda is primed to change the economic fortunes of the state for the better.

The State Governor said he adopted a big view approach to the huge infra deficit he inherited from his predecessor, noting that his team understands the deep level of infra deficit which covers roads, health, water and schools.

Explaining his administration's efforts to bridge the infra gap, the Governor recalled the flag off of road dualisation last week at Ilesa, adding “we are here to bring to reality the construction of a flyover bridge, this iconic bridge, the first of its kind in this land of the source.

“The project location was justified on the ground of easing traffic, facilitating connectivity and attracting adjacent economic activities. Ile Ife deserves not only an infra upgrade but a classical upliftment to enhance the tourism capital of this divine town. This is what our government is launching today. We are on a match to greater height for Ile Ife and Osun State as a whole.

“I want to use this platform to assure elders, sons and daughters of Ile Ife that our government is committed to solving the many developmental issues facing this city. “ On this occasion, we thank the Governor as the Prince of Ife and as the Chairman of the Imole Leadership team. You make us proud and we are proud of you. Today, Ile Ife and Osun State will not forget your legacy decisions and actions.”, Prof Oladipo noted.

Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has clarified that the recently introduced cybersecurity levy to all banks and financial services is 0.005 per cent, not 0.5 per cent.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, in a notice on Monday, ordered all banks to collect and remit cybersecurity levy to the National Security Adviser.

The bank stated that the deduction and collection of the cyber security levy is the sequel to the enactment of the 2024 Cybercrime (prohibition, prevention, etc.)

However, Onanuga, in a post through his official X handle, clarified that the levy is 0.005 per cent in line with its establishment law.

“Cybersecurity levy is not 0.5 per cent but 0.005 per cent”, he wrote.

A further analysis of the levy showed that 16 transactions were exempted.

Meanwhile, the levy raised alarm over multiple taxes by Tinubu’s administration.

DAILY POST recalls that the government also plans to reintroduce the Telecommunications tax and other fiscal measures as part of the requirement for a $750 million loan from the World Bank.

Once more, here we go. Drake seizes the initiative and drops a fresh diss of the same name before Kendrick can drop "The Heart Pt. 6," turning the tables on Kendrick's timing approach.

After Kendrick gave a victory lap with "Not Like Us," social media was abuzz and appeared to be about to declare victory for him. However, Drake is back in the fight tonight, despite many people writing him off.

Recall: Kendrick Lamar Releases Yet Another Drake Diss Track, ‘Not Like Us’ - Listen below

Drake's "Family Matters" diss tune and Kendrick's "Meet the Grahams" 30 minutes later made for perhaps the wildest night in hip-hop history yesterday. There won't be any relief anytime soon.

The rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who is renowned for spitting the hardest during her freestyles, has returned with another one. Megan is in her arrogant element with this song, telling listeners right away that it's "real hot girl s**t."

If we’re hearing this track correctly, it seems as though she has also sneaked in a few subliminals towards Nicki Minaj. While this isn’t a sure-shot analysis, bars like “Take it out the chat, I ain’t tryna be your penpal / Meanwhile it’s a bitch on the app right now / Gettin’ fucked over, still braggin’ ’bout her body count/“ potentially allude to her infamous feud with Nicki. https://twitter.com/theestallion/status/1787497822910357567

That said, the analysis may not be far off the mark; after all, Megan and Nicki have both released diss tracks targeting each other in the past. From Megan going off on ‘Hiss’, to Nicki’s in-questionable-taste clapback on ‘Big Foot’, the dynamic has clearly strained their relations beyond reconciliation anytime soon. Interestingly, this whole thing began with Nicki being the first to send subliminals in Megan’s direction with the track, ‘Seeing Green’, and potentially calling her an alcoholic.

Whatever the case, it seems like this is the year of war in rap, and we are here to see how it pans out ultimately for the culture.

Deportation from Lagos to Osun: Governor Adeleke Interfaces with Sanwoolu as Lagos Governor Promises Immediate Investigation.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has interfaced with his Lagos State counterpart over a report of alleged deportation of Osun indigenes from Lagos to Ilesa area of Osun State.

Sahara Reporters had on Saturday published a story about several luxury buses dropping hundreds of youth at Ilesa after allegedly rounding them up in several parts of Lagos State.

The report was confirmed by an investigation team set up to confirm the veracity of the story by the Osun State Government.

The state team reported that eye witness accounts confirmed the dropping of the youths in several luxurious buses by a team suspected to be from Lagos State.

The state's report showed that the youths were systematically dropped at
Ilesa-Akure Express junction, Breweries; Ilesa - Ibodi - Iginla to Ife Express junction; Osun Ankara Express junction; Imelu Express junction; and Iperindo Express junction.

In his interaction with the Lagos State Governor on the incident, Governor Adeleke expressed shock at the development, urging Governor Sanwoolu to look into the matter and put an end to it if the report is true.

“I spoke with my brother, Governor Sanwoolu on the matter. He too was surprised and he denied ever authorizing any such action.

“Governor Sanwoolu has promised immediate investigation to unravel the facts of the situation. The Lagos team will update us as quickly as possible.

“I am subsequently directing our security agencies in Osun to mount surveillance in and around Ilesa to track the deported youths and their destinations.

“I will update our people on this development. I urge residents to be calm while the security agencies carry out surveillance”, Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying.
