Buhari's Reason For Dropping Ibeto
on: October 14, 2015, 04:38:31 PM

The reason why President Muhammadu Buhari authorised the withdrawal of Ahmed Musa Ibeto From the ministerial nominees has emerged.

Ibeto, the immediate past former Governor of Niger State, was one of the 21 nominees whose names were first forwarded to the Senate for confirmation on September 30.

But as he was still basking in the euphoria of becoming a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki made the killer-announcement.

Saraki read Mr. Buhari’s letter withdrawing Ibeto as a ministerial nominee.
The reason for the withdrawal was a result of the nomination of Abubakar Baba Bwari also from Niger State, we have competently gathered.
Since Buhari had committed to maintaining mean cabinet, having one minister per state, he was faced with the option of picking one of Bwari and Ibeto.
It should be noted that Ibeto joined All Progressives Congress in the build up to the 2015 elections.
But Bwari has been part of APC structure since 2007 when he left PDP. He contested the Niger guber elections as the candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria, one of the parties that dissolved into APC, in 2011.

Party loyalty may therefore be one of the factors Buhari used in making his choice.
Credentials of both nominees could also be another factor. Both have Bachelor’s degree but Bwari has greater records of work experience in both public and private sectors.
Ibeto has had no stint at all in the private sector. His only occupation listed in his CV is teaching.
