Announced last week at CES 2016, alongside the LG K7, the LG K10 will be available to buy starting this Thursday, January 14, in South Korea (LG's home country). After that, the handset should be available in various other markets around the world.

The K10 has what LG is calling a "glossy pebble" design, featuring smooth, slightly curved edges, and a woven back pattern "for optimal grip." It's not a compact smartphone, but neither an extra-large one, measuring 146 x 74.8 x 8.8 mm, and sporting a 5.3-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels.

The LG K10 that's going to be sold in South Korea is powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor (unknown maker), coming with LTE connectivity, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of expandable internal memory - clearly, we're not talking about a high-end smartphone here. The K10 also has a 13 MP rear camera, an 8 MP front-facing camera, and a 2300 mAh battery. In other markets, the handset's features may be different.

Unfortunately, the K10 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, but we hope LG is getting ready to update it to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. To find out more about the new smartphone, check out the LG K10 hands-on from CES 2016

LG made a special "quick view" protective case for the K10, which will be sold separately for a price that hasn't been announced. The accessory looks pretty interesting: it has a transparent edge that lets users see notifications and answer incoming calls without opening the case.

Would you buy the LG K10 if you only had under $200 to spend for a new handset?
