Arcangelo wins the Belmont Stakes
on: June 11, 2023, 12:44:46 PM

A dark foal named Arcangelo won the Belmont Stakes, the third and last race of the Triple Crown series, on Saturday at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y.

The triumph makes Jena Antonucci the main female coach to come out on top in the race in its 155-year history.

"I don't have words yet," said a sad Antonucci after the race. " We're attempting to absorb this — just so glad for this pony at the present time. It's incredible."

She provided an encouraging message: "She is now a barrier-breaker in a sport that is dominated by men." Keep going, she advised. On the off chance that you can't track down a seat at the table, make your own table."

She continued, "He's just got a heart of a champion" regarding her winning horse. He's simply that person."

Arcangelo's jockey, Javier Castellano, won the Kentucky Derby for the first time this year on Mage.

In the meantime, the horse racing industry's safety practices have come under renewed scrutiny after a string of recent fatalities.

Churchill Downs, where the Kentucky Derby is held, suspended dashing in Louisville after 12 ponies passed on the track since April. A horse injured in a Belmont Park race was put down earlier this month.

Industry pioneers demand the game is more secure than any time in recent memory; According to The Associated Press, since officials began tracking horse deaths in 2009, they have decreased by more than 37%.

The Altruistic Culture answered the new passings on Friday: " Practices and conditions that neglect to focus on horse wellbeing and foolish medication and medicine use have established a dangerous climate for racehorses, and possibly the whole dashing industry. "Racing may be in its final days unless there is a genuine commitment to reform that places the safety and well-being of the horses at the center of the sport," Keith Dane, senior director of equine protection, stated.

A social media video showed that a group of people with signs gathered outside Belmont Park to protest the "cruelty and death" of horse racing as part of a protest organized by the nonprofit animal rights organization NYCLASS.
