A hit contract is taken out on a billionaires daughter intent on bringing down a major crime syndicate. A down and out team of mercenaries must take on a group of professional assassins and stop them before they kill their target.

As a stunt performer, Johnson worked under Chen – one of Uma Thurman’s doubles and a student of Yuen Wo Ping – while he served as choreographer on “Charlie’s Angels” (which may, you know, be a McG movie, but does have super solid action). Their new epic project has been delayed previously – allegedly being reworked entirely – but, Muay Thai Master, Tony Jaa has been incredibly enthusiastic about the upcoming picture for some time.

“I cannot tell you how excited I am about this film, it is unique,” Jaa said. “I don’t think that anyone has seen a cast like this in a generation.” The movie also stars; Scott Adkins (“The Expendables 2”) Michael Jai White (“Spawn”) and Celina Jade (“Wolf Warrior 2). Quite the cast, indeed.

Martial arts flicks are still a global phenomenon, but Kung Fu is no longer the only common denominator. Bruce Lee brought awareness to the Hong Kong form/subgenre in Hollywood, a decade prior to Jackie Chan and Jet Li taking the stunt world by storm in the ‘80s; before Yuen Wo Ping would become a big name is the business thanks to “The Matrix” (1999). For a long time, it seemed that martial arts pictures were synonymous with these people, so far as American audiences were concerned. Recently, other countries – such as Thailand & Indonesia – have been innovating the action form and stealing the genre’s spotlight away from its nation of origin.

Well Go USA Entertainment (“Burning”) will release “Triple Threat” on March 22, 2019.
