So who will be on the Iron Throne at the end of it all? Kit Harington’s Jon Snow? Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen? Lena Headey’s Cersei Lannister? Or Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister? Fans will finally have their answers when “Game of Thrones”’s final season premieres on HBO on April 14, 2019.

It’s pretty difficult to estimate just how big an impact “Game of Thrones” has had on television since its debut eight years ago; much like “The Sopranos” introduced a distinct level of prestige to television dramas, HBO’s fantasy juggernaut has firmly established that series can be as big, bold, and effective as big-budget films, and the television industry has never been the same ever since. Now, with the show’s eighth and final season rapidly approaching, HBO has released a new trailer alongside the Super Bowl.

This final season is somewhat truncated compared to its predecessors, with only six episodes to resolve the numerous plotlines of the series, but the show’s creators, Daniel Benioff and D.B. Weiss, have described each episode as being almost like its own movie, so fans should have a lot to look forward to for the concluding episodes. Though the show itself is ending, there should be a lot of Westeros content on HBO to come, like the untitled spin-off prequel series starring Naomi Watts that’s set to premiere next year.. You can watch the trailer below.
