BECKY Is a new revenge film that stars Lulu Wilson in the title role. This action-thriller is certainly worth your time and has many exciting scenes. Imagine getting a lot of blood in an R-rated home alone. Becky is a new action-thriller in the title role starring Lulu Wilson. We are dealing with a plot of revenge / survival that feels familiar as well as very new.

Familiar, since it is like a Home Alone R-rated version. New because Kevin is now Becky, a young girl who is going to do whatever it takes to survive. Oh yes, you'll both be shocked and amazed by her ability to act and respond to everything that's thrown at her!

Lulu Wilson is Becky

We absolutely adore Lulu Wilson here at Heaven of Horror. Sure, she might still be very young (she was born in 2005), but she’s already been in some amazing horror movies. She always manages to deliver som amazing portrayals.

Still, nothing Lulu Wilson has done in the past could have prepared us for her portrayal of Becky!

I always figured Lulu Wilson could be the biggest horror icon as she grew up and the roles, she got would reflect this. Now, I think she could just as well be the new super action-star. Or hell, she could be everything and anything she wants. I just really hope she keeps acting because her work in Becky is just mindblowing. In all the right ways!

In case you need to be reminded, Lulu Wilson has been in such horror movie sequels as Mike Flanagan’s Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) and David F. Sandberg’s Annabelle: Creation (2017). Both movies are arguably better than the first movies in their respective series. Her first movie role ever was the horror movie Deliver Us from Evil (2014).

Of course, you might also know her from the brilliant Netflix horror series The Haunting of Hill House or HBO’s Sharp Objects based on the Gillian Flynn book.

A very impressive supporting cast

Let’s be real, this movie really is all about the title character. However, without the other characters in the plot, there really wouldn’t be much of a movie. Fortunately, the supporting characters are interesting and the casting is both impressive and surprising.

As the main villain of the movie, we have Kevin James (yes, the King of Queens and Mall Cop) sporting a huge swastika on the back of his head. Clearly, he is a bad guy, but he is also a smart guy, so he has a little crew of nazis working with him. It’s a very surprising role to see Kevin James in, but he does a great job.

Also, we have Joel McHale as the father of our title character. He is not good at handling his teenage daughter, which Joel McHale does a good job of showing us. You almost feel sorry for the guy, since he is no match for his daughter. Someone who might be is his new girlfriend, who is portrayed by Amanda Brugel from The Handmaid’s Tale and Dare Me. She’s awesome!

Finally, I have to give a special shout-out to the dogs in this movie. They also play big parts and do one hell of a job. Especially in relation to Lulu Wilson’s character and the wild action scenes. Good dogs!

Watch Becky in Theaters, Drive-ins, On Demand and Digital now!
Becky was directed by Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion. The two debuted with the horror-comedy Cooties (2014) and followed it up with Bushwick (2017) before making this their third movie. I cannot wait to see what they come up with next!

The script was written by Nick Morris, Lane Skye, and Ruckus Skye. This is the first writing credit for Nick Morris while Lane Skye and Ruckus Skye have a few credits prior to this movie. They previously wrote the movie Reckoning (2019) – not to be confused with the Netflix mini-series Reckoning – which they also co-directed.

In Becky, we get to see Lulu Wilson as an older and more confident character, which is really fascinating since we’ve been watching her grow up in horror movies. This new character has a lot of wounds and issues, but she’s also someone that I would definitely want on my side when the zombies come.

And no, this movie has no zombies, so Becky is just straight-up killing people who are trying to kill her. Yes, really. You do not want to miss out on this one!

Becky is out in select Theaters, Drive-ins, On Demand and Digital from June 5, 2020.
