Altered Carbon Season 2 Teaser: Anthony Mackie Takes Over The Case As Netflix’s Cyberpunk Series Continues.

Soldier Takeshi Kovacs is living in the hell of purgatory. Yeah, he's been given the opportunity to have a second chance at life, but what kind of life would it be to have your identity exist in a body that isn't yours? A lifetime. Adding to the confusion, Kovacs is set to body swap with another individual for his next mission. So goes his hunt for his rich benefactor’s killer, as the second season of “Altered Carbon” is about to kick off.

The series is adapted from the 2002 novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan who continued the exploits of Kovacs with 2003’s “Broken Angels” and 2005’s “Woken Furies.” Additionally, the show’s creator Laeta Kalogridis brings an accomplished eye for sci-fi, having co-written the screenplays for “Terminator: Genisys” and “Alita: Battle Angel.”

Anthony Mackie—part of another mind-bending concept in “The Adjustment Bureau”—provides the alluded body and assumes the role of Kovacs, taking over for Season 1 star Joel Kinnaman. Joining Mackie are returning cast members Chris Conner (“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story“) as hotelier Edgar Poe and Renee Elise Goldsberry (“Hamilton” & “The Good Wife”) as Envoys leader Quellcrist Falconer. Newcomers Simone Missick (“Luke Cage” & “All Rise”), Dina Shihabi (“Jack Ryan”), and James Saito (“Eli Stone”) also join Mackie and company.

Season 2 of “Altered Carbon” is set to premiere on Netflix on February 27. See what next awaits Kovacs on his twisted journey towards uncovering multiple truths and check out the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis for the series:

ALTERED CARBON is set in a future where consciousness is digitized and stored in cortical stacks implanted in the spine, allowing humans to survive physical death by having their memories and consciousness “re-sleeved” into new bodies. The story follows specially trained “Envoy” soldier Takeshi Kovacs, who is downloaded from an off-world prison and into a combat ready sleeve at the behest of Laurens Bancroft, a highly influential aristocrat. Bancroft was killed, and the last automatic backup of his stack was made hours before his death, leaving him with no memory of who killed him and why. While police ruled it a suicide, Bancroft is convinced he was murdered and wants Kovacs to find out the truth.
