After a video of a young boy being coerced into having sex with his police officer mother went viral on social media this week, the boy was taken to a safe location and receiving counseling.

Since then, police have confirmed that the woman in the video is the boy's mother. At the time of the incident, the boy was 10 years old.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, a spokesperson for Limpopo police, stated that the SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses unit was tasked with investigating the incident after becoming aware of the video.

He stated, "The child was taken to a place of safety and the woman was apprehended."

The woman is shown naked on a bed in the video. The camera then shows a young boy holding the woman's thighs while also naked.

Despite the fact that the boy tells the woman that he does not know how to do it, the woman continues to encourage the boy and tells him to get on top of her.

Mojapelo stated, "The case of rape of a minor child was opened on Friday, 20 January, 2023, with additional charges of creating and distributing child pornographic material and sexual grooming of a child, and the suspect was arrested on the same day."

He explained that an investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has begun and will proceed simultaneously with internal police processes.
