The federal government has stated that going by the discussion and gatherings had with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the previous couple of weeks, the continuous strike activity by the association which has paralysed academic activities in the universities nationwide before long be canceled. This was revealed by the Minister of Labor and work, Dr Chris Ngige.

According to him, this is due to the fact that the Federal Government has put into consideration some of ASUU’s demands, including the submission of the union’s list of outstanding payments, and the identification of some areas in the universities in need of revitalisation as contained  in the signed 2009 agreement.

The minister said converses with the association have so far been beneficial and productive, including that the fed government was hopeful that the strike would before long be canceled to clear path for understudies to continue academic activities.

He said: “There are areas that are still outstanding which we are going to address on the 17th. We have the issue of shortfall of salaries, that of some federal university workers.
