A Rivers State University law student identified as Matilda Itonyo Mark died after being stabbed in her room at Port Harcourt's main gate.
 
In the early hours of Tuesday, December 10, 2019, Matilda, a final year law student at the said University, a dancer, hairstylist and writer, was said to have been raped and subsequently stabbed inside her apartment near Eagle Island by herassailant(s).

An ambulance accompanied by security personnel was sighted at the scene of the incident, taking the corpse away from the scene.
 
The Rivers state Police Command and the Management of the Rivers State University were yet to react to the incident at the time of this report.
