Divine Nwaneri, a 24-year-old Department of Soil Science and Biotechnology student at Imo State University (IMSU), died on Sunday, April 25, 2021, after being struck by a stray bullet allegedly fired by military personnel.
The 100-level student was struck by a stray bullet while on her way home around 10 p.m., according to eyewitness sources. One of the soldiers stationed at the Government House in Owerri is said to have fired the bullet.
Divine and others were struck by stray bullets while the soldiers were firing at a motorcycle, according to reports. She was airlifted to Owerri's Federal Medical Center (FMC), where she was pronounced dead. Others are being treated in the hospital right now.
