If you're buying used phone or curious to know when your phone was made, maybe you're wondering if there's a way to find out how old your phone's? fortunately, there is.

Every Android manufacturer is different but if you want to know how old your phone is, there are a few places you can test.

Some phone manufacturers are good enough to make life easy by including the manufacturer date on the package box. Just turn it over and look for date. however, if you Can not find it there? Time to check a few other places.

In settings – Apple and some Android brands

Some devices include the manufacturer date in the settings section of the phone it self. Where it would appear in the settings might vary, but usually some where under “About Phone”. This would require little efforts.

some phone manufacturers will have it clearly stated as manufacturing date or hardware version, however others hide it into the serial code. Unfortunately, that makes it difficult to find out. For example, Apple puts the manufacturing info right into their serial number. The third digit refers to the year, with 9 meaning 2009, 0 meaning 2010, 1 meaning 2011, and search and repeat. The fourth and fifth digits typically refer to the week in the year the iPhone was produced.

If you suspect your serial number might be hiding this information we suggest giving it a google search cause there are so many different OEMs out there, you’re going to have to search for this one yourself.

Using an app – Samsung and a few other brands

If you use a Samsung phone, there is a good chance you will be able to use this easy method. Just head to Google Play and look for a device info app. For instance, Phone Info Samsung worked successfully when we tested it on a Galaxy S7 Edge.

Manufacturing codes

Unfortunately, if you did not find it on the box label, or in the phone settings, or through an app — you’re left with using manufacturing codes. these codes are typically not just OEM specific.

Some devices will respond to entering the #197328640# or ##197328640## into the dialer. This will then prompt a menu. If this doesn’t work for your device you’ll have to look up your specific manufacturer code via Google.
