Apple Music today announced that it has re-branded Beats 1 as Apple Music 1, ending the period in which its internet radio services were named after the headphones of Dr. Dre's Beats and their association with Apple.

Beats 1 has grown into a major force since the launch of Apple Music back in 2015, consistently delivering in-depth artist interviews, world exclusives, and premieres, along with exclusive programming. Several music stars, including Drake, Travis Scott, DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Frank Ocean and The Weekend, have their own radio station to host on the platform too.

“For the past five years, if ever there was a meaningful moment in music culture, Beats 1 was there bringing human curation to the forefront and drawing in listeners with exclusive shows from some of the most innovative, respected, and beloved people in music,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music, Beats, and International Content.

"Apple Music radio now provides an unparalleled global platform for artists across all genres to chat, create , and share music with their fans, and that is just the start. We will continue to invest in live radio and give listeners around the world opportunities to interact with the music they love.

The company also announced the launch of two new stations: Apple Music Hits, featuring the favorite hits of all from the '80s, '90s and 2000s, and Apple Music Country, highlighting country music.

1

On Apple Music Hits, new exclusive shows from Backstreet Boys, Ciara, Mark Hoppus, Huey Lewis, Alanis Morissette, Snoop Dogg, Meghan Trainor, Shania Twain and more are scheduled to be released shortly.

2

Apple Music Country will be celebrating talent from the genre, performing today's classics and revealing tomorrow's stars. It is expected that Jimmie Allen, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, BRELAND, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Morgan Evans, Florida Georgia Line, Pat Green, Willie Jones, Chrissy Metz, Midland, Rissi Palmer, The Shires, Carrie Underwood and Morgan Wallen will soon begin new shows at the station.
