Augustine Gregory, 27, and Nsikan Friday Tom, 28, were found guilty of robbing a passenger who was trying to board a tricycle at Okokon Etuk Street in Uyo. On August 7, 2016, the defendants, Augustine Gregory from Aka Offot in Uyo and Nsikan Friday Tom (aka Nokia), a native of Akpa-Utong in the Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, robbed their victim of his Lenovo laptop and Gionee M5 phone. The convicts were given sentences of 21 years for robbery and seven years for conspiracy by Justice Okon Okon, the judge in charge. He instructed that the sentences should run simultaneously. They were found guilty of armed robbery, membership in a covert cult, and two out of the three conspiracy charges by Justice Okon. The court stated that there was ample evidence that the convicts robbed their victim of his laptop and phone, despite the prosecution's inability to demonstrate that the robbery was accompanied by a gun. Daniel Bassey Okon, a native of Iwuokpom Okpolom in the Ibeno Local Government Area, was also cleared of all three charges by the court.
