Posted by: Morayo« on: August 06, 2017, 09:27:13 PM »![]() The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the killings at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo area of Anambra state in Nigeria’s South-East region. A lone gunman was reported to have attacked the church in the early hours of Sunday, killing at least eight people and injuring about 18 worshippers. And the president of CAN, Rev. Dr. Supo Ayokunle, in statement, described the shooting as unwarranted and wicked. He called on security agencies to urgently investigate and bring the perpetrator to justice. Ayokunle commiserated with the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, the governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, and the families of the victims of the attack. He said, “I urge the Federal Government through the Inspector -General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, in particular to address the issue of proliferation of arms and ammunitions so as to make our world safer. “The perpetrators of this ungodly act must be brought to book without delay. I call on the police to fish out those responsible and there must not be any cover up; Enough of these killings in the country.”
