Concise News gathered that the officers are protesting their unpaid allowances spanning over six months. They barricaded major roads around the police headquarters during the march. The officers also fired some gun shots, making commuters scamper for safety. Further reports show that the protesting policemen, who were fully armed, were stopped from entering the police complex. According to some of the policemen, they have not been paid their allowances since January when they were deployed in the state on special operation. They also alleged that they were subjected to ill-treatment as they slept in the corridor of the office on returning from duty at night. The Borno Police Commissioner Damian Chukwu said he was aware of the protest, adding that the delayed payment may be connected to the late signing of the budget.
