There is substantial evidence that Usman Alkali Baba, the inspector general of police, has ordered the immediate redeployment of Olawale Olokode, the commissioner of police for Osun State, from the state, barring any last-minute changes.

Our correspondent's inquiry revealed that the police chief made the decision over the weekend in response to many requests from various sources over the alleged incapacity and lack of adequate coordination on the part of the Osun Commissioner to effectively coordinate his personnel in the state.

DAILY POST reported that the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) began reviewing disciplinary cases instituted against 130 Senior Police Officers of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above in order to determine their culpability or otherwise.

The high-ranking officers all over the country comprise two Commissioners of Police, three Assistant Commissioners of Police, 11 Chief Superintendents of Police, 19 Superintendents of Police, 18 Deputy Superintendents of Police, and 77 Assistant Superintendents of Police.

A reliable source told DAILY POST that Olokode was redeployed after a recommendation.

Recall that the Osun State Commissioner of Police was accused of superintending the shooting of a correspondent of The Nation Newspaper, Toba Adedeji on May 31, in the course of covering a peaceful protest against police brutality in the state.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, Wasiu Ajadosu, in a press statement issued on the incident, continuously demanded immediate redeployment of Olokode for his failure to ensure the security of lives and property of the citizenry in the state, especially pressmen.

Ajadosu, posited that the statutory obligation of the police in the state was terribly in reverse order, adding that the leadership of the police in Osun has been compromised beyond redemption.
