suspected armed robbers in the state. The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, said on Wednesday that the suspects were among five armed robbers who struck at Sabageria/Okoloba, in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA on August 4. Butswat gave the names of the suspects as Prince Brian, male, 24; Salami Taiwo, male, 29; and and Samuel David, also male, 20. He said the suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery of 26-year-old Wisdom Angaye.They (suspects) were also said to be among those who robbed Agbozu Imomotimi and Collins Agbaowei of the same community (Sabagreia) during the period. Giving insight into how the three suspects were apprehended, Butswat stated, ” On August 4, 2015, at about 02:10 pm, five armed men in a Mazda 323, with number-plate DZ 907 LSD, robbed one Wisdom Angaye, ‘m’, 26 years, at gunpoint and collected the sum of N500,000 cash, two mobile phones, and two Automated Teller Machine cards, at Sabageria/Okoloba, in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA. “The robbers had earlier robbed one Agbozu Imomotimi and Collins Agbaowei of their handsets in the same community. “The victims alerted patrol teams attached to Kaima Police Divisional Headquarters. Consequently, the patrol teams embarked on stop-and-search operations on the road linking the community to the East-West Road. “The armed robbers on sighting the police, abandoned their vehicle and ran into the bush. The policemen pursued them and arrested the three suspects.” The police spokesman said the suspects had made useful statements to the police and that investigation was ongoing to apprehend other members of the robbery gang.
