The Osun-Osogbo Festival 2016 will start on Monday, Aug. 8, with traditional cleansing “Iwopopo.”
This is contained in a statement by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Home Affairs, Tourism and Culture, Osun, Mrs Olajumoke Bello, in Osogbo on Saturday.

Bello enjoined all residents of the state capital, Osogbo, to conduct themselves well.


Bello stated that the governor wished worshippers, visitors and tourists from all walks of life an interesting stay and fulfilling experience.

“Gov. Rauf Aregbesola felicitates with Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, Larooye ll , chiefs, Osun worshippers, sons and daughters of Osogbo on the occasion of 2016 Osun-Osogbo festival.’’

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the festival is a yearly tourism event, recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation. (NAN)
