The spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 30, 2024, said the suspect was arrested in Benue State by Operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) Dutse. “Following discreet and actionable intelligence, operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) Dutse arrested notorious armed robbery suspect terrorizing Dutse and Ringim emirates, in Benue state on September 10, 2024, around 0800hrs,” the statement read. "The suspect, identified as Buhari Ya'u 'm' of Dausayi Fulani Settlement Camp, Ringim LGA, was apprehended following an armed robbery that claimed the life of a 40-year-old Murtala Ja'afar at Kwanar Shafar along Ringim-Dutse road, Ringim LGA on 08/06/2024, and the recovery of one fabricated pistol in his residential house when searched by a team of policemen from Ringim Division on 12/06/2024. "During an interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse, the suspect admitted to participating in armed robberies along Jahun_Gujungu, Dindibis_Gamoji, and Shuwarin_Kiyawa roads with four (4) of his gang members. "He also mentioned one Alhassan Idris (AKA Alh Ja'o) 'm' age 40yrs of Jiyayye village, Ajingi LGA, Kano state, who disposed of him the two (2) fabricated firearms at the rate of four hundred and fifty thousand naira (#450,000.00k). "The aforementioned Alh Ja'o was also arrested by detectives from SCID Dutse. “The duo are in police custody and have been given useful information.''
