Before heading to the venue at 10:00am today for the parade to mark the country's 60th anniversary of independence, Buhari will now address Nigerians through a television broadcast at 7:00am October 1st 2020.

As part of activities commemorating the country's 60th anniversary of independence, President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1 , 2020, "Femi Adesina, media aide to the President, said."

The Presidency had initially declared that it would not hold the annual early Independence Day broadcast.

Nevertheless, in a statement released on Saturday evening, September 30, Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President for Media and Advertising, requested all television , radio and other electronic media outlets to contact the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) network services, respectively.

Garba added that afterwards, the President would proceed to Eagle Square, Abuja, to review the Anniversary Parade and take part in other events starting at 10 a.m., which will be covered live on major television and radio stations.
