Henry Seriake Dickson, I did not get the appointment as some top government functionaries I relied upon instead suggested another for the office, and their choice I respect. Regardless of this development wholly at the governor's discretion and not requiring election, I yet will stay committed to the aspirations of the Restoration Government. I appreciate the efforts of students who stood by me to support the government during campaigns and subsequent elections. I had great plans for you and the entire student community, one of which was the diversification of bursary and scholarship sources for indigent students by liaising with corporate organizations, multinationals, civil society groups, non-governmental organizations and individuals. And because education is not the sole responsibility of any government, I intended pooling resources with education stakeholders to organize annual lectures on student unionism, check undue suspension and expulsion of students, as well as engage expelled students in vocational training to curb social vices and mayhem borne out of frustration. I also hoped to ensure that all political appointees and elected persons have an SA on students for the welfare of Bayelsa State students, and to fund the national executive of NUBSS, ensuring it is not hijacked by individuals for selfish causes. These and many more I promised you who believed in me and joined in supporting the Restoration Government despite the fact that bursaries were not paid. Some of you planned to carry out a massive protest to reject the appointee but I pleaded and you listened. To all my LGA and ward coordinators, members of the various committees, I cannot thank you enough. And for everyone of you who supported this cause, may God bless you immensely even as we look forward to a better future and our participation in it. Meanwhile, congratulations to Austine I.
