Osun Government on Tuesday ordered 250 senior staff in the state’s 61 Local Government Development Areas (LCDAs), to proceed on a 30-day compulsory leave.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the order affects only officials on salary Grade Level 15.

Gov. Rauf Aregbesola had on March 8 created 31 LCDAs, in addition to the 30 local government areas of the state.

Aregbesola said only Grade Level 14 officers known as “Council Managers’’, would henceforth head the LCDAs.

He directed grade level 15 officers and above to report to the state’s Local Government Service Commission.

However, when the 250 officials got there, the commission directed them to go on compulsory leave for one month for administrative convenience with effect from Monday, March 21.

Permanent Secretary of the commission, Mr Dayo Olaluwoye, said the new arrangement in the LCDAs required huge administrative work, hence the need for compulsory leave.

He said the 250 senior staff were no longer needed in the local governments, “but they could be redeployed to other ministries where their services would be needed.”
