Monday, December 25, Tuesday, December 26, 2017; and Monday, January 1, 2018 have been announced open occasions by the government.

The three days - Christmas day, Boxing day, New Year-were declared as occasions in an announcement made for the benefit of the legislature by the Minister of Interior, Lt.- Gen. Abdulralman Dambazau (rtd).
