Emirates Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing At Dubai Airport, All Passengers Safe

An Emirates aircraft, with 300 people on board, traveling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India, to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday caught fire in mid-air at the Dubai International Airport, the government said.

Dramatic video appears on social media showing the plane exploding on the runway.

“An Emirates plane coming from India has been involved in an accident on landing at Dubai International,” Dubai Media Office said on its Twitter account.

“All passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported so far,” it said, adding that all departures from Dubai International have been halted “until further notice.”

Emirates also confirmed that there are no fatalities among the passengers and crew.

All passengers and crew are accounted for and safe, the airline said. There were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board the aircraft. It added that the main priority involves offering support to concerned family and friends.

Emirates can confirm that today, 3 August 2016, flight EK521 travelling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India to Dubai has been involved in an accident at Dubai International Airport. There were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board.

The Boeing 777 aircraft, departed at 10.19am from Trivandrum International Airport and was scheduled to land at 12.50pm at Dubai International Airport.

We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew. All passengers and crew are accounted for and safe.

We are expecting a 4-hour network wide delay, more information will be available on the Emirates website and social media channels.

The main priority remains with those involved and offering support to concerned family and friends. Dedicated telephone lines are now active for family members:
