A Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria, who visited Arepo to check the effect of the explosion, reports that the area is calm. NAN, however, observed that there were about five speed boats carrying some men suspected to be vandals, who came to the scene of the incident to search for their dead colleagues. NAN reports that each boat left the scene after about an hour carrying suspected dead bodies. Some policemen, who were in mufti, were seen around with one of them carrying his rifle. Some of the residents of Beachland Estate, who spoke to NAN on condition of anonymity, said the explosion and vandal activities were becoming worrisome to them. One of the residents was said to have died of heart attack when the explosion occurred. When NAN, in the company of other media men, visited the street where the victim died, they were told to leave the area so as not to put the family in trouble. “We don’t want press people here. The man that died was a banker not a vandal,” a resident said and gave no further detail about the deceased.
