● Osun APC Accuses Adeleke Government of Sponsoring Ikire Violence, Claims Five Killed.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration of supporting and backing alleged armed thugs who carried out Monday's violent attacks in Ikire, the Irewole Local Government headquarters, which it claimed resulted in five fatalities and assaults of police officers.

Speaking to reporters in Osogbo on Monday, Oluwafunsho Fagbohungbe, the chairman of the Osun APC Media Cluster, claimed that the murders that took place on Monday morning at the intersection of Naira and Kobo in Ikire were a part of a state-sponsored political terror campaign carried out by thugs affiliated with the Accord Party.

According to Fagbohungbe, the situation started when the alleged thugs violently took control of nearby transportation hubs, killing two bystanders and three commercial drivers.He also claimed that while responding to a distress call, the hoodlums attacked police officers, including the Divisional Police Officer of Irewole Division.

As of right now, armed thugs who openly support the Accord Party and work under the political auspices of Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration have converted Ikire into a scene of violence.

"These sponsored gangsters launched a violent assault earlier today to take control of local transport hubs at Naira and Kobo Junction in Ikire." In the process, innocent commuters, a commercial driver, and passing travelers dies in cold blood, causing widespread fear and a complete stop to the town's economic activity.

“This was not a mere street brawl. It was a calculated, armed attack on public safety and constitutional authority. When the Divisional Police Officer of the Irewole Police Division responded to a distress call after an APC member was abducted and taken to a motor park for torture, these hoodlums turned their weapons on law enforcement. Officers were assaulted, and service rifles were snatched from police personnel by known criminals,” Fagbohungbe stated.

The APC alleged that the violence was orchestrated by Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi.

“We have received credible information that this latest wave of violence in Ikire was allegedly coordinated and sponsored by Senator Lere Oyewumi. We demand the immediate arrest of the Senator,” Fagbohungbe stated.

The APC called on the Inspector General of Police, the AIG Zone 11, and the Osun Commissioner of Police to immediately deploy maximum force to reclaim Ikire, secure all local government secretariats, and recover all stolen police weaponry.

The party expressed sympathy to the victims' families and asked APC members and locals to maintain composure, refrain from retaliation, and let security personnel carry out their responsibilities.
