Stoney led United to promotion in their first season and has secured top four finishes in the last two seasons. “It has been an honour to lead the women’s team at this great club and this has been an incredibly tough decision. She added: “I now feel the time is right to take some time away and for someone else to come in and lead the team on the next stage of its journey.” Stoney is already attracting attention from clubs in the NWSL. She was also linked with the Team GB post, but Hege Riise has taken the role.
