His appointment comes after Ronald Koeman left his Netherlands post last month to take over at Barcelona . De Boer, who made 112 Netherlands appearances and played at two World Cups for his country, has signed a two-year deal. De Boer, 50, led Ajax to four straight Eredivisie titles between 2011 and 2014 but his 85-days as coach of Inter was a failure. He then joined Crystal palace but stayed for 10 weeks after Palace lost their first four Premier League games of the season, failing to score a single goal in the process. De Boer will be thrust quickly into his new job with a friendly against Mexico and two Nations League games early next month. The Netherlands host the Mexicans in Amsterdam on October 7 before travelling to Bosnia on October 11 and Italy on October 14.
