As a prelude to his next album BLUE LIPS, ScHoolboy Q keeps releasing new songs.

The West Coast rapper, "Cooties" and "Love Birds," has decided to release two new tracks today in anticipation of the album's March 1st release via TDE/Interscope Records. These tunes have an unusual sound to them, much like what we have heard from the project thus far.

The music videos for sure aren’t your typical rap-like either.

These two tracks follow ‘Yeern 101‘ from last week which serves as the official first single off the upcoming album. Watch the clips below.

« Last post by Miss Ifeoluwa on February 21, 2024, 10:26:58 AM »

A Kwara State University, KWASU, student, Jimoh Abdulmueez, has been declared missing.

Jimoh, a 24-year old computer engineering student, was last seen on Thursday last week, DAILY POST reports.

He reportedly left the university campus, Malete, for his Ilorin home but has not been seen since then.

On Friday, a report was made at the police station, but nothing has been heard so far.

His mother, Mrs Jimoh Amdalat, appealed to any member of the public with information about his whereabouts to call 07030889682.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the institution, Dr Saeedat Aliyu proved abortive on Tuesday.

However, a source in the institution, disclosed that the parents of the missing student visited the school but could not locate him.

Jimoh reportedly left the campus at about 7:00 pm on Thursday for home, but could not be found on Friday when he was supposed to write a test.

His friends decided to call his phone number which was not answered after several calls.

DAILY POST gathered that the friends then called the parents who said they did not see him at home.

After a futile search for him, the parents reported the matter to the police station.

Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, when contacted, said the police had begun investigation into the matter.

Business / Binance confirms working with FG to block dollar-naira exchange
« Last post by Miss Ifeoluwa on February 21, 2024, 08:59:04 AM »

The government of Tinubu is collaborating with Binance to stop the exchange of dollars for naira. The largest cryptocurrency trading platform in the world, Binance, has acknowledged working with President Bola Tinubu's team to prevent Nigerians from trading dollars for naira on its exchange.

In a Tuesday statement on its "commitment to P2P users in Nigeria," Binance revealed this and issued a warning, stating that "users behaving in a manipulative way will be removed from the platform."

"As leaders in the industry, we are collaborating closely with legislators, regulators, and local authorities to make sure we take action against non-compliance," Binance stated.

The crypto exchange platform further said it is “setting an upper limit for ads, filtering and removing bad ads, requiring and raising deposits for merchants posting ads as well as processes for actioning against any market manipulators.”

On Tuesday, Binance disabled sell option for its Nigerian users, blocking them from selling fiat currency, USDT, on the platform. It also capped the buy option to $1802 for Nigerian users.

It also disabled purchase of cryptocurrencies via P2P for its Nigerian users, leaving those who might want to sell their crypto assets such as Bitcoin, BNB, Ethereum via P2P stuck.

This comes as another desperate move by the Tinubu-led government to stem naira freefall against the dollar. The naira continues to decline even after the Economic Financial Crimes Commission raided perceived currency speculators at a popular Abuja Bureau De Change hub on Monday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, directed law enforcement agencies to take firm measures against anyone engaged in foreign exchange market speculation.

“In a concerted effort to safeguard Nigeria’s foreign exchange market and combat speculative activities, the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Central Bank of Nigeria are joining forces to address challenges impacting the nation’s economic stability,” a statement issued by Mr Ribadu’s office read.

It added, “The CBN’s proactive measures to stabilise the foreign exchange market and stimulate economic activities have been commendable. However, the effectiveness of these initiatives is being undermined by the activities of speculators, both domestic and international, operating through various channels, thereby exacerbating the depreciation of the Nigerian naira and contributing to inflation and economic instability.”

The naira hit its all time low, trading for N1902 to a dollar on Tuesday before Binance blocked its Nigerian user from selling USDT on the platform.

Mr Tinubu’s government collaborating with Binance to block Nigerians from dollar-naira trading mirrors his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari’s ban on cryptocurrency trading in the country in 2021. The CBN under Mr Tinubu’s watch in December 2023 lifted the ban on cryptocurrency.

Some Nigerian Binance users have criticised Binance on its latest move, threatening to migrate to other platforms for their dollar-naira trading.

An x user, @MikaelBernard, on Tuesday, dismissed Binance’s decision against Nigerian users as “absolutely ridiculous,” adding that “If this is how they plan to save the naira, I’m sorry but it’s going to fail woefully.”

“You can no longer sell your own tokens for above 1802/$. I don’t know what they aim to achieve, but traders are now on telegram, selling at 1850/$ and above. Binance was only a medium. If you block Binance, people will find new ways,” @MikaelBernard tweeted.

Another X user, MiracleOkeke said, “So, let me understand, you literally decided to put a peg or control a somewhat person to person transaction that should normally be determined by whatever price they wish? As an open market? Jokes on you, we will move to other platforms.”

With “more than half of its adult population” trading cryptocurrency “monthly,” according Binance, Nigeria ranks among countries with the largest population of crypto traders in the world.

Recent restrictions on domiciliary accounts in Nigeria by the Tinubu-led government could have also increased the number of Nigerians using the exchange to save their money or facilitate receipt of funds from abroad.

Osun NUT Applauds Adeleke Over Teachers Recruitment, Urges Merit

Osun State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), has advised Governor Ademola Adeleke to ensure that the ongoing recruitment of teachers is merit-driven and free from political infiltration.

The union commended the governor for the approval of 5000 teachers and 250 education officers to be recruited into the teaching profession in the state.

A statement jointly signed by the state Chairman and Secretary of the Union, Comrades Fatade Muritala Olatoke and Akin Ade-Ojo, on Tuesday, described the recruitment as 'timely and well-intentioned' to fill the many year's vacancies in the teaching profession.

The union reiterated that the ongoing recruitment, no doubt, will go a long way in improving the learning capacity of pupils and students of both public primary and secondary schools in the state.

The union described Governor Ademola Adeleke as a man of words who, in his less than two-year-old administration, has never for once, compromised standards on anything that will bring progress to the state and its people.

The statement, however, urged the Osun state government to be above board in the processes of the recruitment exercise continuing across the state online.

The statement reads: "Osun state wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), wishes to use this medium to acknowledge and commend Osun state government under the leadership of Senator Ademola Adeleke for approving the recruitment of 5000 teachers and 250 Education Officers into the Osun teaching profession.

"It is incontrovertible to state that our over three decades old state, Osun, is in need of well-trained and qualified teachers to shore up the wide lacuna brought about by the shortage of teachers in the state over the years.

"No doubt, the entire good people of this state including, teachers, students, and parents in particular, will never forget in a hurry, the ceaseless efforts made and still being made by Ademola Adeleke led government, to right the many wrongs that hitherto enveloped the education sector.

"As a way of recall, over the years, shortage of teachers has been one of the banes of the teaching profession in this state, which has had negative consequences, not only on our children in both public primary and secondary schools but education sector generally in the state.

"Without any iota of equivocation, the NUT, which is the umbrella of all teachers in Osun state and Nigeria as a whole, is committed and alive to the ideals of getting ongoing recruitment drive into the teaching profession achieve the desired goals and objectives in Osun state.

"To this end, as a Union, we wish to implore the state government, to allow the hiring processes currently going online to be strictly merit-driven by making sure that it is completely free of any political bias or nepotistic tendency of any kind.

"Our Union,is quick to state that, anything short of making the processes open and transparent, will defeat the noble ideal of getting the best hands to fill the existing vacant positions in our schools.

"As a Union, which, will never mortgage the nobility of age-old teaching profession, our Union, calls Adeleke-led administration, to also make the would-be teachers will be eventually shortlisted undergo a Computer Based Test ( CBT) to further guarantee that those to be eventually engaged are ICT compliant in line with the best global practices in the teaching profession.

"To further augment the drive of getting the best hands, we call on the state government, to put in place an independent panel comprising competent and experienced professionals to be drawn from major stakeholders in education sector like NUT, AOPSHON, ANCOPS, among others so that the would-be teachers would, again, be made to carry out practical teaching exercise before the panel members. This, we believe, will be another effectively efficient method to assess the competency of the teachers to be engaged in Osun teaching profession.

"As a Union, we affirm and reaffirm our support and solidarity with the Ademola Adeleke-led administration in all its laudable programmes and policies aimed at giving a total facelift to the hitherto poor state of education in Osun state.

One of them, as contained in the recently released Government White Paper is premised on carrying out total renovation of public schools to ensure a conducive environment, not only for the students/pupils but teachers as well.

"Finally, we pray that the mutually beneficial relationship between NUT Osun state wing and Adeleke-led administration will continue to blossom unabated," the union said.

Video Shows Moment Lion Mauled An OAU Staff

The moment a lion mauled an OAU zookeeper has surfaced.

The moment was captured in a video.

Recall that a staff member of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife Zoological Park, Olabode Olawuyi, was killed by a nine-year-old lion in the zoo on Monday, Feb. 19.

A video shared online shows a bloodied Olawuyi lying unconscious on the floor following the attack.

Other staff of the zoo are heard expressing outrage while insisting the lion would not be spared.

One staff member then pulls a gun and shoots at the lion that attacked Olawuyi.

The lion is seen limping after it is wounded by the gunshot before it falls and dies.

A statement released by the public relations officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, said Olawuyi, until his death was a Veterinary Technologist, who had been in charge of the Zoological garden for over a decade.

Hans Essaadi, the CEO of Nigerian Breweries Plc has revealed the effect of high cost of living on the company.

He lamented that Nigerians are no longer drinking beer due to high cost of living.

Essaadi made the revelation on Monday, February 19 at the company’s investor call following the release of its 2023 results.

"It has been unprecedented year for our business in Nigeria. We saw a significant decline in the mainstream lager market as a result of Nigerian consumers no longer able to afford a Goldberg after a hard day’s work,”  Essaadi told Bloomberg.

NB suffered a N153bn foreign exchange loss due to the devaluation of the naira for the year ended December 2023.

For the period under review, NB grew its revenue by 8.9 per cent to N599.64bn from N550.64bn. Net finance expense rose significantly by 449.7 per cent to N189.19bn, dragging the brewer to a loss of N106.31bn, from a gain of N13.19bn at the end of 2022.

In comments reacting to the financial results, the NB Board of Directors said;

“The Nigeria business landscape experienced significant shifts in 2023 with substantial impact on businesses and livelihoods nationwide. The redesign of the naira notes which resulted in cash shortage that severely hampered social and economic activitIies nationwide set the tone for a turbulent year.

“High double-digit inflation rates (with food inflation at more than 30 per cent), removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit (fuel), devaluation of the naira, and foreign exchange scarcity further exacerbated the already difficult environment for the populace and businesses.”

“The company was able to grow its revenue by nine per cent compared to the previous year aided by a positive price mix. However, the operating profit fell by 15 per cent due to higher input cost and one-off reorganisation costs despite strong and aggressive cost savings and other efficiency measures. Coupled with the impact of the devaluation of the naira which resulted in a foreign exchange loss of N153bn, the Company recorded a net loss of N106 billion during the year.”

NB produces alcoholic products like Star Lager, Gulder, Legend Extra Stout, Heineken, Goldberg, Life, and Star Radler.

In August, NB increased its prices to accommodate the continued increase in the cost of inputs.

Sturridge identifies tactical error Pochettino made during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Man City.

Former Chelsea attacker Daniel Sturridge believes manager Mauricio Pochettino made a tactical error in the closing stages of his team’s Premier League 1-1 draw with Manchester City over the weekend.

Recall that goals from Raheem Sterling and Rodri ensured both Chelsea and Man City got a point each at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side enjoyed much of the possession on Saturday night but that suited the Blues very nicely as they constantly created problems on the counter-attack.

However, Pochettino decided to sub off Cole Palmer for centre-back Trevoh Chalobah, having earlier taken Sterling off for Christopher Nkunku in the second half.

But Sturridge believes Pochettino should have stuck with his counter-attacking tactic by not subbing the likes of Sterling and Palmer.

“See for me, things are going nice, counter attacks, chops and changes, combinations, all these types of things…,” Sturridge said on Sky Sports.

I’m thinking as the attacker we can get more chances. They didn’t have a shot after 70 minutes. They had gone to five at the back.

“They were so threatening in the second-half with Jackson still doing his thing and the two most threatening players [Sterling and Palmer] came off the pitch”.
