Video Shows Moment Lion Mauled An OAU Staff

The moment a lion mauled an OAU zookeeper has surfaced.

The moment was captured in a video.

Recall that a staff member of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife Zoological Park, Olabode Olawuyi, was killed by a nine-year-old lion in the zoo on Monday, Feb. 19.

A video shared online shows a bloodied Olawuyi lying unconscious on the floor following the attack.

Other staff of the zoo are heard expressing outrage while insisting the lion would not be spared.

One staff member then pulls a gun and shoots at the lion that attacked Olawuyi.

The lion is seen limping after it is wounded by the gunshot before it falls and dies.

A statement released by the public relations officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, said Olawuyi, until his death was a Veterinary Technologist, who had been in charge of the Zoological garden for over a decade.

Hans Essaadi, the CEO of Nigerian Breweries Plc has revealed the effect of high cost of living on the company.

He lamented that Nigerians are no longer drinking beer due to high cost of living.

Essaadi made the revelation on Monday, February 19 at the company’s investor call following the release of its 2023 results.

"It has been unprecedented year for our business in Nigeria. We saw a significant decline in the mainstream lager market as a result of Nigerian consumers no longer able to afford a Goldberg after a hard day’s work,”  Essaadi told Bloomberg.

NB suffered a N153bn foreign exchange loss due to the devaluation of the naira for the year ended December 2023.

For the period under review, NB grew its revenue by 8.9 per cent to N599.64bn from N550.64bn. Net finance expense rose significantly by 449.7 per cent to N189.19bn, dragging the brewer to a loss of N106.31bn, from a gain of N13.19bn at the end of 2022.

In comments reacting to the financial results, the NB Board of Directors said;

“The Nigeria business landscape experienced significant shifts in 2023 with substantial impact on businesses and livelihoods nationwide. The redesign of the naira notes which resulted in cash shortage that severely hampered social and economic activitIies nationwide set the tone for a turbulent year.

“High double-digit inflation rates (with food inflation at more than 30 per cent), removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit (fuel), devaluation of the naira, and foreign exchange scarcity further exacerbated the already difficult environment for the populace and businesses.”

“The company was able to grow its revenue by nine per cent compared to the previous year aided by a positive price mix. However, the operating profit fell by 15 per cent due to higher input cost and one-off reorganisation costs despite strong and aggressive cost savings and other efficiency measures. Coupled with the impact of the devaluation of the naira which resulted in a foreign exchange loss of N153bn, the Company recorded a net loss of N106 billion during the year.”

NB produces alcoholic products like Star Lager, Gulder, Legend Extra Stout, Heineken, Goldberg, Life, and Star Radler.

In August, NB increased its prices to accommodate the continued increase in the cost of inputs.

Sturridge identifies tactical error Pochettino made during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Man City.

Former Chelsea attacker Daniel Sturridge believes manager Mauricio Pochettino made a tactical error in the closing stages of his team’s Premier League 1-1 draw with Manchester City over the weekend.

Recall that goals from Raheem Sterling and Rodri ensured both Chelsea and Man City got a point each at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side enjoyed much of the possession on Saturday night but that suited the Blues very nicely as they constantly created problems on the counter-attack.

However, Pochettino decided to sub off Cole Palmer for centre-back Trevoh Chalobah, having earlier taken Sterling off for Christopher Nkunku in the second half.

But Sturridge believes Pochettino should have stuck with his counter-attacking tactic by not subbing the likes of Sterling and Palmer.

“See for me, things are going nice, counter attacks, chops and changes, combinations, all these types of things…,” Sturridge said on Sky Sports.

I’m thinking as the attacker we can get more chances. They didn’t have a shot after 70 minutes. They had gone to five at the back.

“They were so threatening in the second-half with Jackson still doing his thing and the two most threatening players [Sterling and Palmer] came off the pitch”.

The new song "Scared Money" featuring Stalley is out. Kevin Durant: Pay attention
As an avid fan of hip-hop, Kevin Durant has been around for a long. He was most recently listed as an executive producer on T-Shyne's Confetti Nights and Drake's Scary Hours 3. He also recorded a song with Lil Wayne, who did not want the surprise to be spoiled, but it might or might not be on Tha Carter VI.

Tonight, Stalley is back with new music which features a verse from KD. It’s called ‘Scared Money’ and is produced by Bam. If you’ve heard KD rap before, you know that he actually sounds surprisingly comfortable on the mic and is far from gimmicky with it. That trend continues here. Stream the new song below on Spotify, Apple Music or TIDAL.
