DAILY POST reported that in a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, President Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, as well as all elected members of the House of Assembly of Rivers State and nominated Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the affairs of the state for six months. Reacting in a statement shared via his X handle on Tuesday night, Falz argued that the President does not have the legal standi to suspend the Governor. He emphasised that the governor is elected into office and may only be removed by impeachment. Falz questioned if there was an actual breakdown of law and order in Rivers State that warrants the President to declare a State of Emergency. He wrote, “Rivers State, there is absolutely no law that allows a president to SUSPEND a governor. A Governor is elected into office and may only be removed by impeachment. “Also, is Rivers state at war? Is there ‘actual breakdown of public order?’ Is there a threat to the existence of the federation?” 84

The alleged murder trial of gospel singer, Timileyin Ajayi, resumed on Monday at High Court 2 in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital. The prosecuting lawyers brought three out of five witnesses to testify against him over the alleged killing of a corps member, Salome Adaidu. The witnesses, who submitted their statements as evidence in court, claimed that the victim’s body was found in Ajayi’s possession. Ajayi was first brought before Justice Simon Aboki of the High Court in January, where he pleaded not guilty to killing Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps member who was allegedly found dead in his home. The Nigeria Police had charged Ajayi with culpable homicide, a crime punishable by death under Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria. The Nasarawa State Government took over the case and appeared in court to start the trial. During Monday’s session, the prosecutors requested to correct the suspect’s name from Timileyin Ajayi to Oluwatimileyin Daniels Ajayi. The prosecuting lawyers presented three witnesses and submitted five statements as exhibits, labelled A to E, which the court accepted as evidence. The three witnesses explained to the court how the accused, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, was involved in the killing of Salome Adaidu. They were then questioned by the defence lawyer. After hearing the arguments, Justice Simon Aboki adjourned the case, setting the next trial dates for March 17 to March 20. Speaking after the session, the prosecuting lawyer, Raymond Umoru, said, “The witnesses gave vital information as to what transpired. So we hope that at the end of the day, justice will be done.” The defence lawyer, Joseph Tuku-Bisong, also commented, saying, “We have just started today, and we thank God for the success recorded. A serving NYSC corps member in Lagos has alleged threats from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) after posting a video criticizing the rising cost of living in Nigeria. In the viral TikTok video, the visibly emotional corps member lamented how skyrocketing prices have made life unbearable, questioning the government’s efforts to curb inflation. She called President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a “terrible” leader for failing to address the economic crisis. “I just got back from a supermarket, and prices have increased again. Every week, things get more expensive. Eggs are now N6,500 per crate! I remember when they were N800. How are we supposed to survive?” she cried. She also decried the p@@r living conditions in Lagos, high utility bills, and expensive transportation. “Being an NYSC corps member is not beneficial. I spend more on transportation than the allowance we receive,” she added. However, less than 24 hours after posting the video, she shared another clip revealing she had received thr+atening calls from NYSC officials demanding she delete the post. In the recording, an official was heard scolding her, saying, “Are you normal? Take down that video immediately!” The corps member stated that multiple NYSC officials warned her to stop criticizing the government and remove the video. The incident has sparked discussions on free speech, economic hardship, and the rights of corps members to express their frustrations. 90
SpyLoaded News / I Tore My Certificate, Thinking Education Was Haram – Ex-Boko Haram Member« Last post by Morayo on March 15, 2025, 03:32:33 PM »![]() Fatima Musa, a former Boko Haram member, has spoken up about her regret over joining the terror group, stating that she was misled by a distorted interpretation of religion. Speaking at a community dialogue meeting organized by the Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development, Fatima recounted how she was indoctrinated into the group as a young woman. “We were deceived in our youth through a misinterpretation of religion, only to later realise that we had gone down the wrong path,” she said. According to the Nigerian Tribune, she further expressed deep regret for destroying her National Certificate in Education (NCE) after embracing the extremist belief that Western education was forbidden (Haram). “I regret tearing up my NCE certificate when I foolishly believed that education was haram. Now, I understand the truth,” she admitted. The Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development, led by Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, has been at the forefront of de-radicalisation efforts, particularly for female members of the insurgent group in Nigeria’s North-East. Allamin noted that Islamic clerics play a crucial role in countering extremist ideologies by presenting superior religious arguments that highlight the true teachings of Islam as a religion of peace. “Boko Haram is an ideological group that has been misled by a distorted interpretation of the Holy Quran,” she said. She explained that well-trained clerics are essential in correcting these misconceptions and helping former insurgents reintegrate into society. According to Allamin, many de-radicalised women are now actively persuading others still in the bush to surrender and embrace peace. “Some of these women are responsible for calling their female friends, husbands, and children in the bush to convince them to surrender,” she revealed.
