A statement signed by the Deputy Registrar (Information and Publication Division) of the institution, Alhaji Moshood Amuda, said the institution was determined to maintain a conducive learning environment. “The polytechnic authority received a report that the students were in possession of live cartridges and charms and they were handed over to the police for further investigation. In line with the polytechnic’s practice, any student under investigation is to be placed on suspension, pending the outcome. Consequently, I am directed to inform the affected students that the management has approved their suspension from the polytechnic, pending the outcome of the investigation by the police,” the statement said. According to the statement, the students involved include Bolaji,Tunde J. Marketing Department with matric no: HND/12/MKT/PT/019, Abdullahi,Wasiu S. Marketing Department with matric no: HND/14/MKT/ FT/207, and Atoyebi,F. Atanda, of Business Administration, with matric no: ND/14/BA/FT/132, all from Institute of Finance and Management Studies of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, said that only one suspect with three live cartridges was arrested. He said the suspect has been charged to court.
