The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has announced that the negotiation between the union and the Federal Government towards resolving the ongoing nationwide strike will resume on January 10th, 2018. This was made known by the National President of ASUP, Mr. Usman Dutse, while speaking to news men in Lagos. According to Dutse, the meeting became necessary because the last meeting held on December 17 in Abuja was inconclusive. He said the union would continue with its strike until they were satisfied with the offer from the government. He further revealed that the report presented by the government during the last meeting was not acceptable to the union. “We met with the government representatives and we discussed issues on the previous agreements at the last meeting, but government was not sincere. We demanded that more things should be done because what they presented was not acceptable. We told them that we were not satisfied with the report they gave us," he said.
