The union said it made the decision after some progress was made with the federal government on its demands. ASUP said in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Abdullahi Yalwa, that the government had met four of its demands. The decision to resume work is intended to give the federal government more time to meet the remaining five demands. The statement read: “The union’s two-week definitive strike will end on 29 May 2022, as agreed at the NEC emergency meeting. “Consequently, the union urges members to resume work effective May 30, 2022 and hopes the government will use the window of opportunity to address the five outstanding issues. “Further guidance/updates will be issued after the 103rd NEC meeting, scheduled for June 2022, to review the situation.”
