According to Channels, President Bola Tinubu has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to vacate a court order freezing an account belonging to the Osun State Government.
In a statement he personally issued on Thursday, Tinubu said he feels “deeply embarrassed not by the EFCC’s exercise of its mandate backed by a court order, but by the timing of the agency’s action”.
“Accordingly, I have directed the EFCC to immediately proceed to the court to vacate the order and discontinue whatever action it has instituted against the Osun State Government in this regard,” Tinubu said in the statement.
Recall, The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has explained its decision to freeze the Osun State Government’s account, saying the action was taken to prevent the alleged diversion of public funds.
According to a statement posted via the EFCC official handle, the anti-graft agency said it had been investigating the Osun State Government since March 2026 over the alleged fraudulent handling of Ecology Funds, Intervention Funds and Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocations amounting to about N11 billion.
The Osun state government has dismissed an allegation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that it froze the state account because of a looted N11 billion, calling the statement a failed attempt to cover up illegal action through unfounded allegation.
However, The real reason the commission froze the state account on the order of Gboyega Oyetola was to stop the payment of palliatives which the state government promised the workers some months ago. This account freezing marks the climax of Oyetola/Ambo's historic anti-workers’ obsession.
