Many supporters and sympathisers on
Monday thronged Ogbonicha, the home town of
Prince Abubakar Audu to witness the burial of the
APC Kogi governorship candidate, the News Agency
 of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

A NAN correspondent who covered the burial
reports that the late politician’s supporters could not
hold back tears as he was lowered into the grave at
1.32 p.m.

Audu died on Sunday.

Sheikh Salman Adam, the Chairman, Kogi Council of
Ulamah, assisted by Chief Imam of Anyigba, Imam
Yahaya Musa, presided over the Islamic burial rites.

A Muslim Scholar, Alhaji Kassim Imam, in a brief
funeral speech, said only God had the right to give or take life as no human had that right.

He said that Audu’s death should not be ascribed to
the making or wishes of any man, saying it was his
time to go back to his creator.

Among those at the funeral were APC National
Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, former governors,
political associates, including James Faleke, his
Deputy Governorship candidate. (NAN)
