Osun 2026: INEC Redeploys Osun REC Agboke
on: April 09, 2026, 01:32:25 PM

Dr Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State, has been redeployed to Ondo State, months before the scheduled governorship election on August 15, 2026.

Agboke announced his redeployment in a message sent late Wednesday on the official Osun INEC WhatsApp platform, where he thanked staff members and stakeholders for their cooperation throughout his time in the state.

He wrote, “I have been transferred to Ondo State. I thank you most sincerely for the support given to me throughout my stay here in Osun State. May God Almighty support you all as well.”

The development comes at a crucial period when political activities are gradually gathering momentum ahead of the governorship election in the state.

Administrative redeployments of Resident Electoral Commissioners are considered routine measures by INEC to promote neutrality, operational efficiency, and institutional preparedness before major elections.

Political observers note that the redeployment aligns with the Commission’s standard practice of repositioning key officials ahead of electoral cycles to strengthen transparency and public confidence in the electoral process.

As at the time of filing this report details regarding the appointment of a new Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State has not been announced by INEC.
