Noting that President Muhammadu Buhari is fully committed to ending the Boko Haram insurgency, Amosu, however, told newsmen at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) base in in Maiduguri on Tuesday that this could be achieved if citizens cooperate by providing the military and other security agencies valuable information. “We have been receiving valuable information from the general public and are not taking it for granted in the ongoing military operations in the North East,” Amosu said. “But we need more information without any of the individuals and communities entertaining any fear or doubt on such credible information. “We in the Nigerian Armed Forces operate with the concept of centralised control, while the execution is decentralised for effective and efficient performances to end the Boko Haram insurgency.” On his relocation to Maiduguri, Amosu said: “All of us you see here today in Maiduguri will stay until to the end of this operation in the affected sub-region.” Similarly, the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah, has said that for the military to make the “best, efficient and effective” use and application of military hardware, arms and other fighting equipment, citizens, especially residents of the communities blighted by insurgency should support the military in the ongoing war. Commenting on the military’s relocation and movement of MCCC to Borno and Adamawa states, Minimah told newsmen at the NAF Base in Maiduguri that the main thrust of the MCCC is the military’s superior ability to “effectively and efficiently” fight Boko Haram to the finish and restore peace in the affected sub-region. “We in the Armed Forces are not taking the battle from the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun,” he stated. “This is war and in war, it is not mathematics that will make us end this Boko Haram madness of destroying lives and property in this country. “All of you should support the Nigerian Armed Forces during the war with Boko Haram. The citizens are to be mobilised to support us in winning this war. Come and support your military in ending this insurgency that has already claimed thousands of lives and property in the North-East.”
