Osun State Governer Rauf Aregbesola has exculpated five detainees at the Kirikiri Maximum Prisons, Lagos, and Ilesha Prisons in the state.

This is contained in an announcement marked by Ajibola Bashiru, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, on Thursday in Osogbo.

The discharged detainees were Akeem Afolahan, Olowoyo Oladipo and Alaba Olagunjun, from the Kirikiri Prisons that were at first condemned to death.

Others were Oladapo Adediji and Olabisi Adediji, of the Ilesha Prisons condemned to life detainment.

The Attorney-General said that the detainees recaptured their flexibility under the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy of the state government

"In Pursuant to the counsel and proposals of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, Gov. Rauf Aregbesola, practicing his forces under the Section 212 (1) (an) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as changed)," he said.

Bashiru, in any case, recognized Governor Aregbesola for his sense of duty regarding the equity part changes and jail decongestion in the state.
