Dr. Saliu Rasaq Oyelami Orisunlagba, the Peoples Redemption Party's (PRP) candidate for governor in Osun State's August 15th election, has stated that the 2026 election will be won on the basis of public trust and ideas rather than the financial might or poster wars of opposing parties.

Ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, Dr. Oyelami Saliu, the Peoples Redemption Party's (PRP) candidate, has referred to himself as the “people’s candidate” and maintained that his main rivals are the result of political godfatherism.

During the 10th Media Parley hosted by the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) in Osogbo on Friday, Saliu Oyelami stated that voters must choose between what he referred to as the “old political order” and a people-driven administration.

In response to questions at a Media Parley hosted by the OOPA in Osogbo, Orisunlagba stated that his party's ideology and agenda are focused on the people.

● Health & Security: Put citizens' safety first, hire locals, and bolster community policing.

● Education and Employment: By generating intellectuals and employing graduates, Osun can become a "frontliner of education and employment."

● Agriculture & Infrastructure: Promote rural development, finish unfinished projects, and increase agro-processing.

● Women's Empowerment: "Under his administration, women's empowerment should be a watchword."

While acknowledging that the current administration "has done its best," Orisunlagba emphasized that Osun need a change in course. "The current governor of Osun State has done his best," he claims. It is obvious that the existing leadership system needs to be changed as well. The moment has come for PRP to maintain Osun State's governing regime," he declared.
