Husein, a serving commissioner in the state, and one of the two aspirants that were presented for the screening exercise, was disqualified for his failure to comply with the party’s guidelines and electoral law. Both APC guidelines and electoral law made it compulsory for any individual in a public service employment to resign or withdraw before contesting for an elective office. However, the National Working Committee of the APC made a sharp u-turn on Monday, as they unanimously cleared Husein to participate in the party primary slated for Tuesday, June 13. The resolution of the NWC was communicated to pressmen in Osogbo through the Director of Publicity, Research, and Strategy of the Osun APC, Mr Kunle Oyatomi. Oyatomi explained that by the clearance of Husein, he was qualified to participate in the primary election as scheduled, alongside Ademola Adeleke, the younger brother to the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke. The National Working Committee of our great party, headed by the National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun had this afternoon cleared senator Mudashir Husein to participate in the primary election as scheduled,” Oyatomi said.
