The Tecno Spark 4 represents the fourth generation of smartphones in the Tecno Spark series. It is a smartphone that plays on some of the new trends, without creating large difference in price from its predecessor.

The Design and Display
The design on the Tecno Spark 4 may be new to the Spark series, but careful observation of mobile phones released in the past makes the affordable android phone is a very familiar device. It is reminisce of a lot of smartphones design-wise.

Tecno Spark 4 features a plastic build, with round edges. It is a smartphone that is going to appear very modern, to people who have stuck to the Spark series. It attempts to fit into the latest trend of smartphones, without deviating from its budget circle.

On the rear covering of the Tecno Spark 4, there is a gradient design. On the blue variant of this device, the gradient comprises a mixture of two fades on blue and on the Purple variant, the gradient comprises a mixture of two fades of purple a dark and a lighter shade, other color variants follow suit, having a mixture of dark and light colors.

This rear covering houses a triple camera setup, brief camera info, a fingerprint sensor and a Tecno branding on the bottom.

Upfront, the handset features a notched 6.52-inches IPS LCD display, with a screen resolution of 1600 x 7200 pixels. Although the bottom bezel remains, there is an observable reduction in size, when compared to the Tecno Spark 3.

Tecno Spark 4 has four color variants. Purchasing this mobile phone, you have the option of choosing either the Blue, Purple, Red, and Grey.

The Cameras
Despite the difficulty in featuring the latest trends on smartphones of this caliber, Tecno tries their best to give customers a taste of what the latest trend feels like. They try their best to make features less of a gimmicky.

In 2019 the number of rear cameras on smartphones increased. Although we currently in the level where 4 cameras are gradually becoming a trend, stepping up from dual cameras on the Tecno Spark 3  and the  Tecno Spark 3 pro to a triple camera setup on the Tecno Spark 4 is a welcome development. More cameras mean more features.

The Triple camera setup on the Tecno Spark 4, features a 13MP primary with an aperture of F/1.8, 2MP depth camera, and a QVGA camera. Upfront, there is an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Photos were taken on the Tecno Spark 4 is definitely going to turn out sharp, but its definitely going to require some work. You probably would need to take photos under good conditions. I mean with good lighting available.

Hardware and Software
There are no surprises here, The same hardware specs we had on the Tecno Spark 3 is what we have on the Tecno Spark 4. From Processor to RAM and to storage, the specs are the same. The only difference here is the battery, which has been slightly increased.

The Tecno Spark 4 features a Quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 Processor, with a processing speed of 2.0GHz. This processor is powerful enough to get you true all the basics, from surfing the net to light gaming.

The 4G smartphone also features a 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 4000mAh battery. There is no fast charge mechanism here to speed up charging, you shouldn’t be expecting any crazy charging speeds.

Despite being a smartphone released months after Android 10 went live, the Tecno Spark 4 still runs HiOS 5.5 on top of Android 9.0 Pie. As at the time this article was written, there was no word on any future updates for OS.

Connectivity
The smartphone features a  3.5mm jack and the USB Type C (USB 3.1). This device also features a dual-band Wifi and Bluetooth 5.0.

The Tecno Spark 4 features 4G LTE connectivity and supports the major telecommunication networks in Nigeria, Including MTN, 9Mobile, Airtel and Glo Mobile.

Tecno Spark 4 Price and Availability
Tecno Spark 4 Price in Nigeria starts around 35,000 Naira, which is about 92 dollars. The smartphone is available for purchase in retail stores in Nigeria, as well as online retail stores based in Ghana and Kenya.
