The Popular comic Yoruba actor Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, is reportedly dying without anyone to help. Baba Suwe's poor health status has been making the round online with thousands of his fans showing sympathy and willingness to support him financially.

The Theatre Arts and Motions Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has denied abandoning one of its members, Babatunde Omidina, a Yoruba movie comedian, in the hospital.

The renowned comedian, popularly known as 'Baba Suwe', is currently battling an undisclosed illness.

While speaking with reporters on Monday, in Abeokuta, Bolaji Amusan, the National President of the association, said the report was concocted and sponsored by mischief-makers to discredit TAMPAN.

Amusan, popularly known as 'Latin', said the association had been taking care of the veteran actor’s medical bills since 2017, under the administration of immediate past president, Dele Odule.

He said: “I have just instructed the Lagos executive of the association to check on him to ascertain his health progress.
"I can tell you that we have not abandoned  Baba Suwe, as well as any of our members, as being speculated in some quarters by mischief-makers."

Amusan also added that they had designed a new policy to help members of the association.

According to reports, the actor was terribly sick, adding that he had also not received any help from colleagues in the industry.

It was learned that the seasoned Yoruba actor is battling an unknown disease.

The media personality said: “Baba Suwe is a good man. None of his people can say he is bad. And they are not helping him not because he behaved badly to them. They are not helping him because they care only about their family. That’s the nature of our actors, there is no exception.

“Imagine the caliber of people I told you I had spoken to about Baba Suwe’s case, yet none looks his way yet. But if, God forbid, he dies from the problem, they would be all over the place eulogising his qualities which they helped killed by their lack of empathy.”
