THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10 is a new Netflix thriller based on the bestselling novel by author Ruth Ware. Watching this reminded me of some of the Stieg Larsson stories about Lisbeth Salander, which I loved.

Still, having watched this once, I don’t expect to watch it again. That’s not a putdown of any kind, but it is a thriller mystery, and now I know the answers. I actually think that’s as it should be. Also, Keira Knightley is (yet again) wonderful in the lead.

Unlike what you may expect, Keira Knightley (Black Doves, Silent Night) is not the woman in cabin 10. Instead, she portrays the woman in the cabin next door on a luxury yacht. The woman is a journalist named Laura Blacklock, and this is supposed to be an easy assignment.

Usually, Laura Blacklock covers very heavy subjects as an investigative journalist. However, after a particularly grueling story, an invitation to stay on a luxury yacht for a travel assignment paired with charity is a welcome break.

Unfortunately, she wakes up to the sound of a passenger thrown overboard late at night. A scene that reminded me of the Netflix documentary Amy Bradley is Missing. Especially as Laura is told that it didn’t happen. In fact, no passengers or crew members are missing, so all is well.

Of course, Laura knows all is not well, so she continues to look for answers. Yes, even when it becomes clear that someone does not want her to keep searching. Obviously, one shouldn’t invite an investigative journalist and expect them to back away from a story!

While Keira Knightley is the lead of The Woman in Cabin 10, she is far from the only star in the cast. In fact, this Netflix thriller mystery is full of wonderful actors, whom you’ll recognize from many other movies and series.

Some even in very small roles with little screen time but plenty of impact. This would be Gugu Mbatha-Raw in particular, as she has extremely limited screen time, and I would’ve liked to see her more in this.

In roles onboard the Norwegian cruise (which takes place on a luxury yacht), we see Guy Pearce (The Clearing), David Ajala, Art Malik, Kaya Scodelario (The Gentlemen), Hannah Waddingham, Paul Kaye (Shardlake), and Amanda Collin (Raised by Wolves).

Also in two key roles, you’ll see the Norwegian actors Gitte Witt (Cadaver), Christopher Rygh (Vikings: Valhalla, Tribes of Europa), and Lisa Loven Kongsli (Paradise).
