CRIMINAL: UK Season 2 is finally on Netflix and we’re right back where we left off. If you enjoyed season 1, then I cannot imagine you won’t be happy with season 2 of this Netflix series. Season 2 has four episodes, so we get one more than in the first season of this series.
The place and police officers are, of course, already familiar to anyone who watched season 1. And, for the record, you really should watch season 1 first since the police officers reference things from those three episodes from time to time.
Season 1 had some amazing guest stars as the accused, but season 2 definitely delivers on bringing in the big names as well.
Episode 1 has Sophie Okonedo, who you should really look forward to seeing in the Netflix series Ratched as well. If you like her in Criminal: UK then you will adore her in Ratched.
Episode 2 features Kit Harington of Game of Thrones as the cleanshaven and somewhat douchy Alex. It’s great to see Kit Harington in a role that is very different from the one that made him famous. He is truly great in this.
Episode 3 stars Sharon Horgan who you might know from the Amazon Prime Original series Catastrophe. Actually, even if you don’t know her, you’ll remember her after watching this episode.
Finally, episode 4 stars Kunal Nayyar as Sandeep. You probably know Kunal Nayyar from The Big Bang Theory (whether you watched the show or not). And yes, he speaks with a British accent in this. A great role for him to move into new areas of his career with.
All four episodes of season 2 are directed by Jim Field Smith with all four scripts written by George Kay. This was also the case with the three episodes of season 1.
Jim Field Smith and George Kay are the creators of this Netflix series. And I do mean all versions of this series with Jim Field Smith even directing the episodes of Criminal: Spain as well. That particular Criminal was my least favorite which was quite the shock to me since I love Spanish productions usually.
In any case, with this second season of the new Netflix series, there can be no doubt that there is plenty of room for more stories to be told. Whether only the United Kingdom version will continue or we’ll get more episodes from the other countries (Spain, Germany, and France) remains to be seen.
Fingers crossed that we just get many more episodes since this concept is truly brilliant. As long as Netflix can pull in big names as guest stars, I think the success will continue. And with the meaty guest-starring roles, we’ve seen so far, I am hoping the best is yet to come.
Criminal: UK Season 2 is out on Netflix from September 16, 2020.
